Resident Participation Agreement
This is the agreement a resident accepts, on their own device, before Porchlight records anything. It is written in plain words so it can be read aloud and understood in one sitting.
1. What you are agreeing to
Your community records your stories
When you tap the button and talk, Porchlight saves your voice and writes your words down.
Who can see and hear them
Your family members who have been invited can listen and read. The staff who care for you can read your stories and short summaries of them, so they know you better. Nothing is made public.
How your words are used
Porchlight uses computer software, including artificial intelligence, to turn your voice into text, tidy the text, and prepare summaries for your family and the staff. Your stories are not used to advertise to you and are not sold.
Your stories belong to you and your family
Your family can order a printed book of them. If you leave the community, your family can ask for them.
2. You can stop at any time
Taking part is your choice. You can say no today and yes later, or yes today and no later. To stop, tell any staff member: recording stops, and you can ask for your stories to be deleted. Tapping “I’d rather not” simply tells the staff you don’t want to take part; nothing is recorded.
3. The record of your agreement
When you tap “I agree,” Porchlight saves the date, time, and device details of your tap as the record of this agreement, and shows it to your community’s staff.
